   In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

   And Darius the Mede took the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

   And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no loss. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

   Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

   Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

   Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him,  King Darius, live for ever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which alters not. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

   Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did previously.   Daniel 5:30-6:10

  Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned. And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,  Saying, Did not we strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

   Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hanged on a tree. God has exalted Him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior,  to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

   And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that obey him.   Acts 5:26-32

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Hebrews 3:13-14
But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end

Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Jude 24-25
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
